TIPS FOR ORGANIZING YOUR ENTIRE HOME | PRODUCTS, SUPPLIES, AND WHERE TO GET THEM
Having an organized home can make home life so much more enjoyable. Through the years I have learned to love organizing my space and making it work for me. As I change and evolve, so do my organization tools and needs. I think it is important to look at each place you need to organize separately so that you can find the right fit and something that is going to work long term. Here I have compiled my tips for organization. We will talk about my favorite products, supplies, solutions and where you can find them.
First thing first
The first thing I like to do before organizing is to make sure I have everything I'm going to put in the space in front of me. This allows me to see exactly where I stand on if I still need to purge and what types of solutions might work best. Some spaces require certain supplies based off of cleanliness and necessity other spaces it is more about dimensions and usability. Once you have everything in front of you, you can get started.
Next, I like to start brainstorming solutions that might work best and taking measurements. I try to snap a picture with my cell phone, draw a diagram of sorts and pull measurements of different things. In a cabinet, you would need to measure the opening if it is different than the inside. If you need a self and you want the products to go underneath how tall are they? If you know the max width of your space, but don't care if you use one bin or two side by side make a note of that. Any details you can note in a clear way will help you find the perfect solution when your shopping.
Tools I use
- boxes
- totes
- trays
- bins
- shelves
- bags
- magazine racks
- command everything
- containers within containers
Where to shop
- Home Goods [my first pick]
- TJ Maxx
- Target [my second pick]
- WalMart
- Ikea
- Dollar General or Dollar Tree
- Ross
Specific tips for small spaces
- Go up! Add shelving, command hooks on the wall, etc.
- Make it well lit. I love adding led motion lights so that I can see inside dark cabinets.
- Get the most out of deep cabinets by having solutions that allow the things in the front to easily be taken out and put back so you can access things at the back.
- Try not to store things in things you use daily like the microwave, oven, and shower. This can be handy to store more things, but then do you have a place to set it or store it while these things are in use? Just think ahead and make sure your willing to juggle things back and forth. You may want to minimize more instead.
Shop with me
I have recently re-organized most of the camper and am excited to share the individual spaces with you soon. In the coming weeks, you can expect detailed videos and post explaining how I organize our bedroom, laundry room, bathroom, kitchen, entertainment center, and office. Let me know in the comments which space is the hardest for you to organize. For me, I would have to say it is the kitchen. More on that later.
Happy Friday.
We love you
Be grateful, work hard, and have fun.
